Hey everyone!
As we have had some new team members added recently (yaayyy!), I thought it might be easiest if I just copied and pasted the emails I have sent to the blog. That way if you lose them, or just want to see them all in the same place…they will be right here! Let me know if you have any questions or if I can do anything for you!
In Him, Teresa
This is the first email I sent out to the team:
Hola!
My name is Teresa White and I will be your leader for this summer in Peru! You will not believe how long I have been waiting to get to talk to you all! This email will probably be a little long because I have a lot to share with you (sorry!) so I’ll try to keep it organized.
About Me:
I am a 22 year old from the grand state of Alabama where I have lived my entire life. I currently live in Birmingham and go to medical school at UAB. I want to do medical missions when I finish school and hopefully specialize in either Family Medicine or Infectious Disease. I absolutely love what I do, but it definitely keeps me busy! I also love soccer, dance, and ultimate frisbee. I grew up in a Christian home and felt called to full-time missions when I was a freshman in college. Since then, I traveled to Kenya with AIM as an ambassador 3 years ago where God turned my world upside down. I fell in love with Africa and returned last year to Swaziland as a leader for ambassadors (with our fellow teammate Meghan Smith…yaay!). God has taught me so much through the years, and I loved spending last summer with students like you serving Jesus…and I’m ecstatic to get to do it again! You’ll get to know a lot more about me in the coming weeks through various messages and this coming summer, but I don’t want to scare you away just yet with all my quirks…haha. 🙂
About Peru:
Although the website says we will be in Lima, if you had not already been told, our team will actually be in the Highlands area of Peru (in the Andes mountains). I have been told that the name of the village we will be staying in is Musho, near the base of the highest mountain in Peru! This is a blog that I found from a world racer (another program at AIM) who has been working in the area to give you a little glimpse of what it is like (complete with fantastic pictures!): http://sarahbullers.theworldrace.org/index.asp?filename=beautiful-peru. Feel free to ask me questions if you have any! I will do my best to answer them all, but for now I have one concept to introduce to you about AIM. Everything we do in our ministry is lead by the Holy Spirit and where he is moving. Therefore, if at any point you feel you have questions that aren’t being answered as fast as you would like, I must ask you to trust the Lord and those he has placed in leadership and that we will always relay info to you as you need it. With that being said, I’m so pumped to go to Peru and minister to these beautiful people with you all!! : D
Communication:
If you were not already aware, our team has a blog set up through AIM (I believe that you all have been able to log on and share there already). The link is: http://08pe0626amb1.myadventures.org/Most of our communication will most likely take place through the blog, so be sure to check it regularly. Also, I check facebook really regularly, so if you have facebook, let’s be friends! I’ll try to set up a group for us there and we can communicate through that as well. I’ll let you know more after I set it up. My network is UAB if you look for me. Also, my AIM screen name is Teresa Girrl. I can’t promise that I’m on it all the time, but if several of you have it and want to talk through AIM, I’ll try to have it on more often.
Prayer Request:
While I am currently your main leader, Don Rock and his wife Connie will also be joining us for the first part of our trip. However, we are still working on finding another co-leader to join us in Peru, so please pray for who the Lord may want to join us in our ministry!
My Request for you:
I would love it if everyone would reply all to this email (so we can all read it) and tell us all just a little about you. We’ll have lots of chances to answer my ridiculous questions (like…if you were a kitchen utensil what would you be?) later, but for now, just give us all an idea of who you are. I think communication is really important, so please do this soon! 🙂 Also, if you are on facebook or have AIM instant messenger, let us know that too please!
I can’t wait to hear from everyone and get to know you better! I am praying for you and hope your week is going well. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help or pray for you!
In HIM,
Teresa White
